Strategy Challenge

The Tay Cities Digital Skills Project is part of the £20 million, Regional Skills and Employability Development Programme, funded by the Scottish Government. Approved in December 2022, the Digital Skills Project was awarded over £1.5m of government funding, over a 3 year period to support regional economic growth and the digital labour market throughout Angus, Dundee, North East Fife and Perth & Kinross. DigiTay, the Digital Skills Project is on a mission to achieve the strength in skills that a future digital economy will need. We are doing this through the delivery of a range of activities, initiatives and training programmes related to skilling, re-skilling and upskilling in digital and data skills, ensuring that the Tay Cities Region has the necessary workforce skills on our doorstep.

The Abertay cyberQuarter is a new £18m cybersecurity research and development centre housed within Abertay University.
This initiative brings together students, academics, and organisations to help solve global cybersecurity challenges.
The Abertay cyberQuarter aims to:

• Increase technical problem solving for industry.
• Increase industry-academia interaction and collaboration.
• Increase access to cyber employment opportunities in the area.

With a worldwide shortage of cybersecurity skills, we are offering businesses access to new talent, as well as giving real-world experience to our students. This is especially relevant if you are keen to recruit our Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity graduates or from our partner colleges and other upskilling/reskilling initiatives.
The centre can work with businesses across all sectors, raising awareness of cybersecurity and developing fit for purpose cybersecurity solutions while continuously developing the skills of students and professionals.

The CyberScotland Partnership is a collaboration of key strategic stakeholders, brought together to focus efforts on improving cyber resilience across Scotland in a coordinated and coherent way.
Partners within the CyberScotland Partnership will work collaboratively to help build Scotland-wide cyber resilience and will

• increase partner commitment, effectiveness and impact, avoiding duplication of effort
• increase communication and knowledge-sharing
• monitor impact of the CyberScotland Portal as a key means for organisations, businesses and individuals seeking

information, guidance and support on cyber resilience issues

• support planning and progress of CyberScotland Week
• co-promote materials, resources and event
• consider how to support the evolving cyber security community

The Cyber Statecraft Initiative works at the nexus of geopolitics and cybersecurity to craft strategies to help shape the conduct of statecraft and to better inform and secure users of technology. This work extends through the competition of state and non-state actors, the security of the internet and computing systems, the safety of operational technology and physical systems, and the communities of cyberspace. The Initiative convenes a diverse network of passionate and knowledgeable contributors, bridging the gap among technical, policy, and user communities
